1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them in your journal.
These are all really short, and I'm not sure about continuing any of them... except maybe #1, I kind of like it. Not worth using as an Advent day, just a little bonus for the middle of the month, I guess.
1. Possession- Sarah McLachlan
"Don't be like that," Mohinder says calmly, petting Sylar's hair like he's a pet of some sort, ignoring the dark-eyed glare. "You've got to get used to the fact that you're mine now."
"Never. No one owns me, least of all you," Sylar spits, struggling against his bonds, but his powers are suppressed, his rage useless. Mohinder pins his shoulders down, smiling almost kindly, and leans over his captive.
"You'll learn." The press of his lips to Sylar's is unwelcome, forceful and taking and aching when he bites a little, and Sylar is breathless with anger and frustration, only getting worse with the touch of Mohinder's fingers down his chest. The frustration leaks from the corner of his eyes, and Mohinder kisses away the tears from his closed eyes.
2. Superstar - Lupe Fiasco
"You say you're so special," Mohinder says, amused more by Gabriel's claims than by the older man's excited expression.
"I am! You, will you just look," gabriel insists, and he holds both hands out around Mohinder's waist, a foot away on either side. "Close your eyes," he says, grinning, and Mohinder obeys after rolling his eyes. Nothing happens, and a moment later Gabriel says "Okay, open them."
"You didn't do anything," Mohinder says, and Gabriel looks up at him with a patronizing look. Up? No, Gabriel's taller, there's no way Mohinder could be looking down this far--
"Yeah, I thought so." Gabriel is full of satisfaction as he watches Mohinder windmill his arms, three feet above the floor and obviously more than a little freaked out.
"You are what you say you are... now put me down!"
3. La Tortura - Shakira
"Oh no. No no no," Mohinder says, shaking his head frantically. "Not a chance in hell."
"You are a million kinds of no fun." Sylar grabs Mohinder's hand and pulls him to his feet anyway. "It's my birthday, and I want to dance with you. I know there's a sense of rhythm under that awful fashion sense and studious exterior. I've seen you shaking your ass while you cook."
"That is not the same," Mohinder protests, but he lets Sylar drag him out onto the dance floor-- albeit with a sullen pout. Laughing, Sylar bends to murmur in Mohinder's ear, close enough to be heard over the thumping bass.
"You show off your rhythm now, I promise I'll show off mine later tonight."
4. Nine in the Afternoon - Panic at the Disco
"I don't think this is a good idea," Mohinder says. Peter scowls, crossing his arms.
"Look, you said you wanted to make amends, I agreed to play mediator, I got him to agree to meet you, even! You don't get to back out now."
"I know, but--"
"But nothing. We're going back to the room where this all began, and the two of you are going to apologize to each other." Reluctantly, Mohinder climbs the stairs to the apartment he vacated so long ago, goaded on by Peter's hand on his back. The door swings open before Mohinder touches it, and there he is, in the middle of the empty room: Sylar, looking at him with huge dark eyes, biting the inside of his cheek-- silent and still.
5. Repudiated Immortals - Of Montreal
"So she figured out that something sort of like dialysis-- except instead of cleaning the blood, it's replacing about half the volume with hers-- that would more or less introduce enough of her mutation to the other person's body to affect their brain enough to adopt her power."
"And you think this will work with you, too?"
"Why not? I have her power. And I want you with me, Mohinder. We'll be there for each other forever."
6. Survival - Madonna
"Are you really going to want me around forever?" Mohinder asks, chewing on his lip and staring at Gabriel.
"Yes. You have to ask that?"
"Absolutely, I do. I'm not sure if I want to survive everything, forever..."
"That's a lie." Gabriel smiles crookedly, wrapping his arms around Mohinder and looking down at him with clear unshuttered eyes. "Think about it. We could live so long... we could become angels."
7. Ignition - Bonnie "Prince" Billy
"Do you even know how to drive?" Mohinder asks dubiously, watching Sylar bounce the keys in his palm.
"Nope. Never had to learn, I've lived in the city my entire life." He smirks. "I'm sure I can figure it out as we go..." Mohinder's jaw drops, and Sylar can only hold his deadpan expression for so long. "God, you are so easy. Yes, I can drive, but that's not why I got this car, not really."
"So why...?"
"Because I hear there are some really lovely places to park, very nice scenery... and I missed out on backseat making-out when I was a teenager." Sylar's smile is infectious; Mohinder shakes his head but can't suppress a chuckle. "What do you say?"
"I say that if you ask me to prom, I may have to bludgeon you... now let's get in the car."
8. No Man's Land - Sufjan Stevens
"You killed Nathan Petrelli," Mohinder says blankly, not really making as big a deal about the whole suddenly-grabbed-from-behind-and-pulled-into-the-air thing so much as the fratricide thing. His priorities are kind of warped, Gabriel thinks.
"Don't be an asshole, of course I didn't." He pulls a barrel roll, adjusting his grip on Mohinder to something more comfortable for both of them; in fact it's rather enjoyable to fly on his back, staring up into endless blue sky. "I just talked to him for a while. That was painful enough for both of us, I assure you."
"Well... all right... now where are you taking me?" Mohinder was holding on for dear life, despite being perfectly safe in Gabriel's arms. As if he'd let anything happen to his favorite person in the world.
"I'm not exactly sure. I just thought we'd take the scenic tour of New York until we found someplace nice and quiet to set down."
9. Fame < Infamy - Fall Out Boy
"Don't you feel bad at all?" Mohinder asks. Sylar's lips flatten as he considers the question, then curl up in a smile.
"Nope. Evolution skipped giving me a conscience when it made me incredible, I think." Mohinder stares at him, arms folded and foot tapping impatiently, until Sylar huffs and summons his coat to his hand from across the room. "Fine, fine. Don't give me the bitchface, please, I really can't stand that."
"I wouldn't have to give you the bitchface if you didn't eat all of my ice cream. You might as well get two cartons, if you're so fond of it."
10. Sovay - Andrew Bird
"It's cold in here. Aren't you cold?" Mohinder comes out of the bedroom, briskly rubbing his arms, bundled in a thick sweater but still shivering. Gabriel looks up at him with lifted brows and a hint of concern.
"Not really. Are you all right?" He waves Mohinder over to the couch, letting the darker man press up against him and bury a cold nose in the bend of his neck. "Oh god, freezing!" He shivered, reaching out for a blanket across the room and tucking it around them. "Come on, take a break and watch TV with me. This is about the failed assassination attempts on Hitler, it's quite interesting."
"Forget the TV." Mohinder murmurs, pushing his frigid hands under the hem of Sylar's shirt, soaking up the warmth of his skin.
